Support for friends and family used to involve moments of connection over coffee and cake,
in cafes and on couches, and with lovingly competitive scrabble rivalry, but these days that might
not be possible for everyone who needs it. Perfect Strangers is a project of old-fashioned gestures,
and we've always believed that receiving something friendly in the post can work wonders.
A year after first starting lifting letters, we're still worried about people going through tough
times or people who might be isolating or feeling lonely. We'd like to send lifting letters to these people.
Over a hundred of you marvellous lot signed up to write them last year, which was beautiful and far more
than we had imagined, in the best possible way.
If you'd like to write some letters to cheer someone up, please do help out. The human connection is the
important thing; they don't have to be long, they don't have to be meaningful, and you don't have to worry
about finding the perfect thing to say. There's also no expectation of a reply.
If you'd like to take part in this, you can sign up to send letters here
or by logging into your profile and under the section titled "Lifting Letters."
If you'd like to suggest a recipient of these lifting letters, you can enter their details below.
This person can be you. If it's not you, you'll need to get their consent to share their details of
course. See our legal and technical notes below:
